by Marissa Blackman For the second time of the 2016 USL season, Wilmington Hammerheads FC faces regional rivals Charleston Battery. Hammerheads News The Hammerheads have made several midseason additions to the roster. Casey Townsend, a forward who most recently played for western conference side Oklahomah City Energy FC, and Matt Harriot, a 23 year old midfielder/forward from Wealdstone FC, have both been signed by the club. Dominik Behr, a player from MSV Duisburg of Germany, joins the team for a 14 day trial. Mickey George and Fabio DeSousa, from New Jersey Cedar Stars Soccer Academy, will also be with the team for a trial period. Open Cup This Wednesday, both clubs participated in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Hammerheads played to a 6-0 victory over Miami Fusion FC. by  Meesha Imran Kaleemullah Khan is a Pakistani footballer who was born in Chaman, Pakistan on September 20th, 1992 and currently plays as a striker for Tulsa Roughnecks FC.  His international career began when he signed a five-month contract with a club in  Kyrgyzstan named  FC Dordoi. His performance was so exceptional that the club offered him a two-year contract worth Rs10 million. Khan was named Player of the Year soon after he finished as the highest scorer in the league and also won the Kyrgyz Cup and Super Cup. All of these early accolades prompted immediate interest and there were invitations for trials from China and Iceland, although his agents had something else in mind.  They arranged a one-month trial with USL side Sacramento Republic FC. The USL club put forth a condition; in order for Kaleem to complete the trial, he had to rescind his contract with Dordoi.  On the first day of his try-out, he twisted his ankle and was advised to rest for a week. Unlike last week , when advancement in the table was just as dependent on the performance of other clubs as it was on each individual club, either Charlotte or Wilmington would actually move up if they were to win. A Charlotte victory would catapult the club to the top of the table one point ahead of current conference leader Louisville. Three points for the Hammerheads would mean a boost up to seventh place. by Marissa Blackman As the 2015 USL regular season draws a week closer to its end, Wilmington Hammeheads FC faces FC Montreal for the second time. The teams last met on a Thursday back in June when the Hammerheads managed a 2-1 victory over the Canadian club. The tables have turned since then. At that time, Montreal seemed to be glued to the bottom of the table, but the team has made a resurgence in recent weeks. Now the Hammerheads are in twelfth place while FC Montreal sits in ninth. Since beating Montreal, the Hammerheads have lost every game, except for a 0-0 draw against St. Louis FC and a 4-2 victory over New York Red Bulls II. Wilmington and Montreal are similar in that the most common result for both clubs is defeat. Both teams have been scored against over thirty times throughout the season. By Marissa Blackman Wilmington Hammerheads FC and Richmond Kickers, who compete tomorrow for the second time of the USL season, are two teams in the same boat. Both clubs currently sit in the middle of the table. Richmond is in fifth place while Wilmington is in eighth. Both teams have recently lost an integral player. Ryan Taylor, Richmond's usual starting keeper, has been sidelined by season ending knee injuries. The Hammerheads have released Josue Currais Prieto for personal reasons. Both clubs have also lost at least one match where a controversial call played a huge role in their defeat. At this point, both clubs have completed six of thirty regular season games. Exactly twenty percent of the season has elapsed, and there are seventy two points still available for either club to grasp. Wilmington has had two of each possible result, and Richmond has managed three wins, two losses, and one draw The two clubs also face an interesting predicament as far as standings
